Your Privacy, Plainly Stated.

What you share with us is held with the care and discretion of someone who understands what it means to be trusted — used only as needed, and never sold.

The Short Version

Last updated: May 25, 2026

We're a small publisher's website with a store and a newsletter. Here's everything you should know, plainly.

What we collect and when

We only collect your personal information in a few specific situations:

  1. You contact us — the form asks for your name, email, and message. We use that to reply to you. That's all it's used for.
  2. You subscribe to our newsletter — you give us your email address (and optionally your name). We use that to send you news, announcements, and occasional offers. You can unsubscribe any time with one click.
  3. You buy something — you give us your name, email, shipping address, and payment details. We use those to process and ship your order. Your card number goes straight to our payment processor — we never see or store it. If you ship to someone else as a gift, you're sharing their address with us too.
  4. You pre-order something — same as a regular purchase. We hold your information until the order ships, then it's treated the same as any other order.
  5. You create an account — we keep your account info and order history so you can track purchases and check out faster next time.

When you visit any website, basic technical data (your IP address, browser type, etc.) is automatically logged by the services keeping things running and secure. That's standard and not unique to us.

If you get emails from us — what to know

We send two kinds of emails and they're treated very differently:

  • Transactional emails (order confirmations, shipping updates, return status, pre-order updates, account notices) are sent because you bought something or have an account. You can't opt out of these — they're part of the transaction.
  • Marketing emails (newsletters, new releases, promotions) are only sent if you signed up or opted in at checkout. You can unsubscribe any time using the link at the bottom of any marketing email.

Our email platform puts a tiny invisible image in marketing emails to tell us whether the email was opened and whether links were clicked. This is industry-standard practice. If you'd prefer not to be tracked this way, you can turn off automatic image loading in your email app.

What we don't do — right now

  • We don't run advertising on this site
  • We don't use behavioral analytics
  • We don't sell your information, ever
  • We don't add you to the newsletter just because you bought something — you have to opt in

One thing to know about the future: If we ever add social media tracking code (called a pixel) to the site for advertising purposes — like running Facebook or Instagram ads targeted at people who visited the site — we'll update this policy before we do it and let you know. We haven't done that yet.

Who touches your data

A few outside services are involved in specific, limited ways:

  • Our email and communications platform sends all our emails — both transactional and marketing — and manages subscriber lists and email tracking
  • Our payment processor handles your card details securely — we never see your full card number
  • Shipping carriers receive your name and address (or your gift recipient's) to deliver your order
  • Our site security provider protects the site and powers the "prove you're human" check on the contact form
  • A font delivery service serves the typefaces on the page
  • Video platforms may collect data when you watch embedded videos on this site — their own privacy policies apply
  • Book retailers we link to are completely separate — if you buy through Amazon or another retailer, that's between you and them

None of our service providers receive your data for their own marketing purposes.

Cookies

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies on our end. Here's what is used:

  • Security cookies — keep bots out and the site safe
  • Shopping cart and login cookies — purely functional, keep your cart intact while you shop
  • Email signup form cookies — remember whether you've already seen a signup prompt
  • Video player cookies — if you watch an embedded video, that platform may set its own cookies

You can block cookies in your browser settings. Just know that the shopping cart and account login may not work properly if you do.

Links to other sites & international visitors

We link to Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and book retailers. Once you click through to those sites, their privacy policies apply — not ours.

Our customers are mostly US-based, but if you're visiting from the EU, UK, or elsewhere, you have rights under your local privacy laws — including the right to access, correct, or delete your data. Just email us and we'll work with you in good faith.

Your rights

You can ask us what data we have on you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. California residents have enhanced rights under state law. We don't sell your data, so there's nothing to opt out of on that front.

If there's ever a data breach that affects your information, we'll notify you promptly as required by law.
