Your Privacy, Plainly Stated.
What you share with us is held with the care and discretion of someone who understands what it means to be trusted — used only as needed, and never sold.
The Short Version
Last updated: May 25, 2026
We're a small publisher's website with a store and a newsletter. Here's everything you should know, plainly.
What we collect and when
We only collect your personal information in a few specific situations:
- You contact us — the form asks for your name, email, and message. We use that to reply to you. That's all it's used for.
- You subscribe to our newsletter — you give us your email address (and optionally your name). We use that to send you news, announcements, and occasional offers. You can unsubscribe any time with one click.
- You buy something — you give us your name, email, shipping address, and payment details. We use those to process and ship your order. Your card number goes straight to our payment processor — we never see or store it. If you ship to someone else as a gift, you're sharing their address with us too.
- You pre-order something — same as a regular purchase. We hold your information until the order ships, then it's treated the same as any other order.
- You create an account — we keep your account info and order history so you can track purchases and check out faster next time.
When you visit any website, basic technical data (your IP address, browser type, etc.) is automatically logged by the services keeping things running and secure. That's standard and not unique to us.
If you get emails from us — what to know
We send two kinds of emails and they're treated very differently:
- Transactional emails (order confirmations, shipping updates, return status, pre-order updates, account notices) are sent because you bought something or have an account. You can't opt out of these — they're part of the transaction.
- Marketing emails (newsletters, new releases, promotions) are only sent if you signed up or opted in at checkout. You can unsubscribe any time using the link at the bottom of any marketing email.
Our email platform puts a tiny invisible image in marketing emails to tell us whether the email was opened and whether links were clicked. This is industry-standard practice. If you'd prefer not to be tracked this way, you can turn off automatic image loading in your email app.
What we don't do — right now
- We don't run advertising on this site
- We don't use behavioral analytics
- We don't sell your information, ever
- We don't add you to the newsletter just because you bought something — you have to opt in
One thing to know about the future: If we ever add social media tracking code (called a pixel) to the site for advertising purposes — like running Facebook or Instagram ads targeted at people who visited the site — we'll update this policy before we do it and let you know. We haven't done that yet.
Who touches your data
A few outside services are involved in specific, limited ways:
- Our email and communications platform sends all our emails — both transactional and marketing — and manages subscriber lists and email tracking
- Our payment processor handles your card details securely — we never see your full card number
- Shipping carriers receive your name and address (or your gift recipient's) to deliver your order
- Our site security provider protects the site and powers the "prove you're human" check on the contact form
- A font delivery service serves the typefaces on the page
- Video platforms may collect data when you watch embedded videos on this site — their own privacy policies apply
- Book retailers we link to are completely separate — if you buy through Amazon or another retailer, that's between you and them
None of our service providers receive your data for their own marketing purposes.
Cookies
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies on our end. Here's what is used:
- Security cookies — keep bots out and the site safe
- Shopping cart and login cookies — purely functional, keep your cart intact while you shop
- Email signup form cookies — remember whether you've already seen a signup prompt
- Video player cookies — if you watch an embedded video, that platform may set its own cookies
You can block cookies in your browser settings. Just know that the shopping cart and account login may not work properly if you do.
Links to other sites & international visitors
We link to Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and book retailers. Once you click through to those sites, their privacy policies apply — not ours.
Our customers are mostly US-based, but if you're visiting from the EU, UK, or elsewhere, you have rights under your local privacy laws — including the right to access, correct, or delete your data. Just email us and we'll work with you in good faith.
Your rights
You can ask us what data we have on you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. California residents have enhanced rights under state law. We don't sell your data, so there's nothing to opt out of on that front.
If there's ever a data breach that affects your information, we'll notify you promptly as required by law.

Privacy Policy — Perelandra Publishing Company
www.perelandrapublishing.com • Effective Date: May 25, 2026
1. Introduction
Perelandra Publishing Company ("we," "us," or "our") operates this website to share the work of Chris Ahrens and to facilitate communication with readers, collaborators, and the public. We also operate an online store through which books and related items may be purchased, and we conduct email marketing and communications with subscribers and customers. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect across all of these activities, how we use it, with whom we share it, and your rights with respect to it.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly.
We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide in the following contexts:
- Contact form. When you submit a message through our contact form, you provide your name, email address, and the content of your message.
- Newsletter signup. When you subscribe to our mailing list, you provide your email address and, optionally, your name. Subscription may occur through a standalone signup form on this site or by opting in at checkout.
- Store purchases. When you place an order, you provide your name, email address, shipping address, billing address, and payment information. If you are shipping to a recipient other than yourself, you provide that recipient's name and shipping address. By providing a third party's address, you represent that you have the right to share that information with us. Payment card data is transmitted directly to and processed by our payment processor and is not stored by us. Pre-orders are subject to the same data collection as standard purchases; the information you provide at the time of pre-order is retained until your order is fulfilled.
- Customer accounts. If you create a store account, we retain your login credentials, account preferences, and order history for as long as your account remains active.
Information collected automatically.
When you visit this site, certain technical information is collected automatically by the services that operate and protect it. This includes your IP address, browser type, device type, referring URL, pages visited, and time of visit. This data is processed as part of normal site operation, security, and abuse prevention.
If you interact with an embedded video player on this site, the platform hosting that video may collect data about your interaction, including your IP address, device information, and viewing activity, according to that platform's own data practices.
Information collected through email communications.
Our email marketing platform places a small, invisible image (known as a tracking pixel or web beacon) in marketing emails we send. When you open such an email, the pixel records your email address, IP address, and the date and time of the open. Links within our emails may also be tracked to record clicks. This data is used to measure the performance of our campaigns and to improve our communications. You may disable image loading in your email client to prevent pixel-based open tracking.
Information collected by third-party services.
This site uses a third-party service to deliver web fonts. That service may log your IP address and browser information incidental to delivering those assets.
If newsletter signup forms are embedded directly on this site, our email marketing platform may set cookies in your browser to manage form display and subscription state.
If social media platforms or advertising networks provide tracking code that is integrated with this site in the future, that integration will be disclosed in an update to this policy prior to activation.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To respond to inquiries. Contact form submissions are used solely to reply to your message.
- To send marketing and newsletter communications. If you have subscribed to our mailing list, we use your email address and name to send newsletters, announcements, promotional offers, and other marketing content. We may send automated email sequences — such as welcome emails or follow-up communications — based on your subscription status or purchase history. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link included in every marketing email.
- To process and fulfill orders. Purchase information is used to process payment, fulfill and ship your order, send order confirmations and shipping notifications, and handle returns, exchanges, and disputes. Pre-order information is retained and used to fulfill your order upon availability.
- To manage customer accounts. If you create an account, we use your information to maintain that account and provide order history and related functionality.
- To send transactional communications. Order confirmations, shipping notifications, return and refund correspondence, account notifications, and similar communications are transactional in nature. These are sent as a necessary part of your relationship with us and are not subject to marketing opt-out.
- To protect the site. Automatically collected technical data is used for security, abuse prevention, and site performance purposes.
- To measure and improve marketing performance. Email open and click data collected through tracking pixels is used to evaluate campaign effectiveness and improve future communications.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only as follows:
- Email and communications platform. Your name, email address, and subscription or purchase status are shared with our email and communications platform, which we use to send both transactional and marketing emails, manage subscriber lists, and track campaign performance.
- Payment processor. When you make a purchase, your payment information is transmitted directly to our third-party payment processor. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. The payment processor operates under its own privacy and security practices and applicable financial regulations.
- Shipping carriers and fulfillment partners. Your name and shipping address — or the name and address of your gift recipient — are shared with shipping carriers and any fulfillment partners as necessary to deliver your order. Carrier tracking data is generated as a result of this process and is subject to the carrier's own data practices.
- Site security and content delivery. Our content delivery and security provider processes visitor traffic data, including IP addresses, as part of its security and performance functions.
- Video hosting platforms. If you interact with embedded video content on this site, the hosting platform may receive data about your interaction. This occurs via their embedded player and is governed by their own privacy policy.
- Social media and advertising platforms. If tracking or pixel-based integrations with social media or advertising networks are activated on this site, those platforms may receive information about your visits and interactions for the purpose of targeted advertising or campaign measurement. Any such integration will be disclosed in an update to this policy prior to activation.
- Third-party retailers. This site contains links to third-party book retailers where Chris's books may also be purchased. When you click through to a third-party retailer and complete a purchase there, that transaction is entirely between you and that retailer. We have no visibility into, and no responsibility for, the data practices of those platforms.
- Legal compliance. We may disclose personal information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or the safety of others.
5. Data Retention
- Contact form submissions are retained only as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry and maintain a reasonable record of correspondence.
- Subscriber data is retained for as long as you remain subscribed. Upon unsubscribing, your data is retained only as long as required to honor your opt-out and comply with applicable regulations, after which it is deleted or anonymized.
- Order records — including purchase details, shipping addresses, and payment records — are retained for as long as necessary to fulfill legal, tax, accounting, and chargeback obligations, and to support returns, warranty claims, and dispute resolution. This period is generally seven years for financial records under applicable law.
- Pre-order information is retained from the time of purchase through fulfillment and thereafter subject to the same retention schedule as standard orders.
- Customer account data is retained for as long as your account remains active. You may request deletion of your account at any time by contacting us; deletion may be subject to retention obligations described above.
- Automatically collected technical data is retained according to the policies of the respective third-party services that process it.
6. Cookies and Tracking
This site does not use first-party advertising or behavioral tracking cookies.
The following types of cookies and tracking technologies are in use or may come into use on this site:
- Security and bot detection. Our site security provider and the bot-detection widget on the contact form use session-based cookies and browser signals to identify and block automated abuse. These do not track you across other websites.
- Font delivery. A third-party font service may log technical request data incidental to delivering typefaces to your browser.
- Store functionality. If you shop with us, session cookies are used to maintain your cart and login state. These are strictly functional.
- Email marketing platform. If a newsletter signup form is embedded on this site, our email marketing platform may set a first-party cookie to manage whether and when that form is displayed to you.
- Video embeds. Embedded video players from third-party platforms may set cookies in your browser when you interact with them. These are governed by those platforms' own cookie and privacy policies.
- Advertising and social pixels. If tracking code from social media platforms or advertising networks is added to this site in the future, those integrations will set cookies and collect data for targeted advertising or campaign measurement purposes. This policy will be updated prior to any such activation.
You may configure your browser to refuse or delete cookies. Doing so may affect the functionality of certain features, including shopping cart and account login.
7. Email Marketing and Your Choices
We send two categories of email communications:
Transactional emails are sent as a necessary part of your customer or account relationship with us. These include order confirmations, shipping and delivery notifications, return and refund correspondence, pre-order status updates, account notifications, and security alerts. Because these communications are essential to your relationship with us, they are not subject to marketing opt-out.
Marketing emails include newsletters, new release announcements, promotional offers, and other non-essential communications. You may subscribe to marketing emails through a signup form on this site or by opting in at checkout. You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by contacting us directly. Unsubscribing from marketing emails does not affect the delivery of transactional communications.
We may send automated email sequences based on your subscription status, purchase history, or other interactions with our site or store. These remain subject to the same opt-out rights described above.
We may maintain separate subscriber lists or segments for different purposes. Regardless of how lists are organized internally, the opt-out rights described in this section apply to all marketing communications.
8. Children's Privacy
This site is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Request access to the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
- Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention obligations
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
- Opt out of marketing communications at any time
- Lodge a complaint with a relevant data protection authority
California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including the right to know what personal information has been collected, the right to request deletion, the right to correct inaccurate information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information as defined under California law.
International visitors, including residents of the European Union, United Kingdom, and other jurisdictions with data protection laws, may have additional rights under their applicable local law, including rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, and data portability. We make good-faith efforts to honor such requests regardless of jurisdiction. To exercise any rights under applicable local law, please contact us using the information in Section 12.
10. Third-Party Links
This site contains links to third-party websites, including social media platforms, video platforms, and book retailers. When you navigate to those sites, their privacy policies govern — not ours. We have no control over and no responsibility for the data practices of those platforms.
11. Data Security and Breach Notification
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the personal information we hold against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. Personal data collected through this site is stored and processed within our email, communications, and commerce platforms, which maintain their own security standards.
In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify affected individuals in accordance with applicable law, including California Civil Code § 1798.29 and any other applicable breach notification requirements. Notification will be provided promptly and will include the nature of the breach, the categories of information affected, and the steps we are taking in response.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, services, or applicable law. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Material changes — such as the addition of new data collection practices, new third-party integrations, or advertising pixel activation — will be noted prominently. Continued use of the site after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
